On 1 June 2026, entered into force the abolition of mandatory legal representation in deportation detention proceedings in Germany, which was regulated in Section 62d of the Residence Act (Aufenthaltsgesetz). The amendment was introduced by the Act on the Determination of Safe Countries of Origin by Ordinance and on the Abolition of the Legal Representative in Deportation Detention of 22 December 2025 (Federal Law Gazette 2025 I No. 364).
